Why the copy-and-paste version is the only option

TikTok’s text fields are plain text. There’s no bold, no italic and no strikethrough in captions, bios or comments. What does work is Unicode: the strikethrough above is your text with a combining line mark after every letter, so TikTok stores and shows it like any other characters.

Fitting it into an 80-character bio

TikTok bios are short. 80 characters is a sentence, and strikethrough doubles the length of anything it touches. The maths:

  • A 10-letter word struck through costs 20 characters.
  • A 30-letter phrase costs 60, three quarters of your bio.
