About us and the pink line
A small, single-purpose site that does one thing properly: put a line through your text so it survives a copy and paste.
What this site is
strikethroughtext.online is a free strikethrough text generator. You type, it gives you the same words with a line through them, and you paste the result into Instagram, X, Discord or wherever you need it. Around that tool sit a few related generators (superscript, subscript, underline, small caps and a cleaner that removes the lot) and a set of guides for the apps that have their own way of crossing out text.
The site started in 2024 as a simple generator with six line styles and a superscript page. In 2026 it changed hands and was rebuilt from scratch: a faster tool, more styles, platform-specific character counts and written guides for the questions people actually search for.
How we work
A few rules shape every page here.
- Your text stays on your device. The conversion runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, logged or stored anywhere except, optionally, your own browser so the tool remembers your last input.
- No sign-ups, no paywalls. Every tool works on the first visit, on any device.
- Native first. If an app has its own strikethrough, like Discord's tildes or Excel'sCtrl + 5, we tell you that first. It looks better and doesn't eat your character limit.
- Honest about the trade-offs. Unicode strikethrough doubles your character count, breaks search and can be hard for screen readers. Every guide says so, because you should know before you use it on something important.
- Facts we can stand behind. Shortcuts and limits on this site are checked against each platform's own behaviour. If we're not sure, we leave it out. If something has changed, tell us and we'll fix it.
Why the pink line
Strikethrough is an editor's mark. Proofreaders crossed words out in colour so the correction stood out from the text, and when they changed their minds they wrote stet, Latin for "let it stand". On this site every line drawn through text is pink, so you can always see where the strike is.
